Walter & Maribel (M&W)

Walter & Maribel Requejo have served as missionaries in the area of Ensenada, Mexico, teaching, equipping, and discipling youth through a God-ordained ministry known as Los Elegidos (The Chosen Ones) Bible Club, located in the small community of Cañon Buena Vista (aka El Zorrillo) just 12 miles south of Ensenada since 2012.

They are both passionate about the Lord's Great Commission (Matt28:18-20), and after serving and discipling other youth in Ensenada since 2007, God has called them specifically to this community, where they have served faithfully for the last 12 years ministering to over hundreds of kids.

Through bible studies, fellowship, prayer and worship, along with a God ordained recreation ministry center, the Lord has allowed them to develop a deep relationship with the kids and their entire families.
Most importantly, their desire to see all the kids fall in love with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and be that light He has called them to be, has become a reality over the years.

Five days a week are set aside so kids from elementary through high school and college can attend bible studies, evenings of prayer, worship, recreation activities, bible exams, radio production (Los Elegidos Radio), movie nights, fellowship at the ministry center with food always provided by their generous & faithful supporters back home in the U.S.

The youth also partake in monthly food distributions as they go out and share the gospel, food, bible tracts, and pray for families in need in the community.
The Lord has also led the group to produce their very own radio ministry heard live worldwide at www.kcsb.org and also locally at 91.9 KCSB-FM in Santa Barbara, California, Sundays from 7 to 8 am, where the kids host and preach the gospel with Christian hiphop music in spanish.

The ministry center has become a house of blessings as teams from the U.S. and Canada visit to provide dental care, vision care, light construction for families in need, shower builds, new homes, and much needed food and clothing for the impoverished area.

My Story

I arrived in Ensenada in February of 2007 as a missionary sent out by home church at the time, Reality of Carpinteria, to serve at a local Calvary Chapel here in Ensenada - it was only months after I arrived the Lord led me to where HE wanted me to serve, a home for abused youth.
It was there I was finally able to learn spanish and become fluent in the language, meet my beautiful wife Maribel, and only 5 years later God in His infinite wisdom would lead us to the community of Cañon Buena Vista, also known as "El Zorrillo".
On our first trip there in the Spring of 2012, here is what the Lord spoke to our hearts as we drove to the community for the first time - "Let your lights shine so bright before men . . ."
We would later learn that God had intentionally sent us to one of the "darkest" communities in all of Ensenada, and that He would always be there to protect us, guide us, and provide all our needs. We serve the God of the impossible . . . to Him be the glory.
